Building a foundation for individual, family, and community success through the continuous development of life, academic, social, and emotional skills of our students while maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!

Welcome to Conyers Learning Academy!

Thank you for your interest in John G. Conyers Learning Academy. Our school is unique in that it provides a variety of special programs for District 15 and children in the community listed below.

The following programs make up John G. Conyers Learning Academy:

  • The ABLE Program (Accessibility, Behavior Support, Life Skills, Empowerment) at Conyers Learning Academy is specifically designed for students with multiple cognitive and behavioral needs requiring a special education classroom in an intensive, therapeutic day school setting. The program addresses students' needs in communication, regulation, physical, academic, social, emotional and behavioral domains, recognizing their varying levels of independence and functional skills. Emphasizing individual strengths and needs, the program focuses on personalized educational programming. Classes incorporate functional curricula in academics, communication, socialization, sensory integration, life skills development, and positive adaptive behaviors. This program serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade, identified through their Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

  • The REACH Program (Relationship and Character Building, Emotional Regulation, Academic Achievement, Coping Skills Training, and High Expectations for student success) at Conyers Learning Academy caters specifically to students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs. These students require a therapeutic day school environment due to consistent and severe emotional and behavioral challenges within traditional school settings.

Our program offers a structured therapeutic environment aimed at teaching alternative strategies and coping skills for managing difficult situations. Students progress through a structured four-level system, with daily progress tracked through a point sheet. Academic rigor is maintained using the District 15 core curriculum, ensuring high standards across kindergarten through eighth grade for students identified through their Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

  • The ADS Program (Alternate Discipline Site) is an interim alternative for middle school students suspended for infractions of the school district's disciplinary policies. Any student suspended from school may be placed in this program. While in the ADS Program, students work on school assignments provided by their home school throughout the day. Additionally, they engage in social-emotional learning activities designed to reduce the likelihood of future policy infractions.

We are so happy to welcome you to Conyers Learning Academy, where our staff has developed a welcoming and supportive environment where every student can learn!
